The Empty skin is a concept for a skin that would allow you to customize the look and feel of MediaWiki as easily as editing wiki page.
While this is only a concept, but when relevant elements will be ready, you will be able to set a wiki page as a skin and to provide an opportunity for displayed page to interact with the skin so much as you want.
Perhaps this is exactly what is needed for third-party websites that use MediaWiki core but do not want to look like Wikipedia.
How it will work
This skin is empty. It only encapsulates the elements that available in the skin for use in PHP scripting and displays the wiki page, that should be responsible for the appearance of the whole website as a classic MediaWiki skin. This solution allows you by using PHP scripting to integrate the skin and wiki pages and provides an easy way to change the appearance of your website.
Currently, the PhpTags Widgets extension does not contain elements (such as menu, toolbar, sidebar and etc) which are necessary to make the desired appearance of the website through PHP scripting. When necessary widgets are implemented, this skin will also be implemented.
