What's been working well?[edit]

  • Managed to wrap up some long-lasting VE bugs
  • WikiTinder prototyping
  • Noh moar VE!

What hasn't worked well?[edit]

  • Getting code review with (basically) 1 front-end engineer on the team :( ++
    • Max will help THANKS MAX!!!!! Spasibo
    • Alt suggestion: write less code ;-)
  • git pre-review hook failed again, but now fixed (for good)
    • See Juliusz for details
  • Building consensus on templating (although some small progress) ++++
    • things are going slowly
    • timeline is not clear
    • Trevor 'owns' skin refactoring work (templating is part of it)
    • Is Tomasz involved in this? Do we need him to be coordinating?
    • need end-date and deliverables
    • what is the process for getting there

Action: Kaldari ask Tomasz to help figure out deliverables and timeline


What confuses?[edit]

  • Should we be pushing Wikidata to add more API features or would that be premature?
  • When will we hire another engineer?+
    • feel like this should be a top priority
  • Team's velocity without Juliusz and Jon
  • Changing wikimedia engineering structure to be more loosey goosey "The Masterplan" (vaporware?) yeahhhhhh... who knows
    • Terry sent out a google doc about how we create engineering teams, out for consultation
    • looks like a move to form front end/back end teams
  • Balance btw UI/frontend standardization & building new features+++++
    • with limited resources, it's hard to balance ^
    • if we had timelines for template stuff, we could allocate the right portion of time
    • Maryana can help emhasize the importance of process and goals as far as they impact other work
  • Where's our secondary designer (May) been....?
    • Kaity would like to work with the team, and be the secondary designer (need to communicate with Jared) :-)
    • Action: Kaity and Moiz will clarify with Jared
  • follow-on action from previous retrospective: Juliusz attends QA review to bring up Vagrant and beta labs issues
