Issue Description The text is hard to read on the babel tab to the right on this page. I do not see the issue on my or any other user page.

słyszeć dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description Some declension/conjugation tables are almost illegible because the background and text are almost the same colour, e.g. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/s%C5%82ysze%C4%87#Conjugation. The table in https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ch%C5%82opiec#Declension is perfect.

Preferences dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description

In dark mode, the Wiktionary logo in https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Special:Preferences (top-left corner) is hard to read due to contrast issues with dark red and blue over black background (probably because it's the light mode version). Instead, https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page switches to a dark-mode version of the logo. I rechecked in an incognito window and after logging out and back in. --Blaisorblade (talk) 03:07, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

We can't solve this, MediaWiki:Common.css doesn't apply to the preferences page. Matrix (talk) 20:36, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Issue Description

Tables on Wiktionary are still in light mode and are pretty much unreadable. To see it, just go to any entry that contains a word-inflection table (whether for a noun, verb or adjective). It happens to the new Vector theme. When I turn on its light theme and use the Dark Reader browser extension, the issue is not there anymore: I can read the tables again.

Known cases should be fixed. SURJECTION ·talk·contr·log· 15:30, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

sms-infl-verb-contr dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description On Wiktionary pages with tables (e.g. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Skolt_Sami_nominals), dark mode doesn't change the color of the table's cells, but does change the color of the text from black to white, causing text to be unreadable.

buoh dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description The declension template for Old High German (in this case rendered for the noun "buoh") remains with the cell background colors essentially unchanged, while the text gets inverted. Unfortunately this destroys the contrast.

@RayZa: Fixed, thanks for the report. This, that and the other (talk) 08:23, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Proto-Germanic/lambaz dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description The text color brightness is inverted for PG inflection templates, but the background colors aren't. This actually affects various inflection templates, especially of old and reconstructed languages. Is there a guide for how/where to fix that? --RayZa (talk) 01:48, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Proto-Germanic/saiwalō dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description

If you look at the Inflection table in the referenced article, the light yellow colour stays light even when the text in in becomes a (different) light colour when switching to dark mode, producing a very low contrast which is difficult to read. This also happens with similar tables on other pages and possibly other templates, but unfortunately I am not very familiar with how text and formatting works, so I don't know how to report on the template itself: Template:gem-decl-noun

κάνω dark mode error

[edit]

Issue Description Conjugation table keeps its light background colour when switching to dark mode, while the text becomes a light colour, leading to poor contrast. Thanks for your work!

Yes Done. The Greek verb tables need to be rewritten from scratch, but for now their appearance in dark mode is the same as that in light mode. This, that and the other (talk) 23:29, 7 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Now fixed properly with rudimentary dark mode support. SURJECTION ·talk·contr·log· 15:30, 16 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Issue Description The text colour of the Inflection Table is too faint to be legible in Dark Mode. More precisely, whereas the text takes on the inverted tone of Dark Mode, the background colours of the Inflection Table do not, resulting in a contrast discrepancy that renders the Inflection Table's text virtually unreadable in Dark Mode. Thanks for looking into this!

Issue Description

{{ine-decl-noun-n}} still has a light background in dark mode, in § Inflection. The template uses #invoke which I have no experience with, otherwise I'd trace the problem up the chain. — W.andrea (talk) 17:05, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
