Project:Requests/User rights/ZI Jony

From mediawiki.org

User: ZI Jony[edit]

Requested user-rights: Administrator.

I'm not Mediawiki software developer but I'm active here and on IRC for doing anti-vandalism and others. When I find bad, off-topic/spam flow topics, I hide them. I'm also a active member of SWMT and monitor this wiki using SWViewer and IRC. If I'd be +sysop then can be able to block vandals and spammers, delete vandalism, spam and non-translations pages, unambiguous promotional pages etc. Thank you! • Oppose Oppose Please stop trying to request userrights you both won’t use properly and aren’t qualified for. In just the last week you requested Global AF Helper on Meta-Wiki, contacted me off-wiki asking for rollback on the Simple English Wikipedia, and this. Not to mention you recently had rollback revoked on Wikidata. Vermont (talk) 11:43, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Vermont Can you stop your PERSONAL ATTACK! with your group scammer. You also always come to comments where you are not eligible and/or your comments are not necessary! You also canvassing peoples to came and support you vote. I think you have problems that because I'm a foreigner, you want that I should quit itself or you are mentally not stable to accept someone from other community. If I file a request for GR, you will be there with your very very good friends to oppose. I must file a complaint against you about your long time PERSONAL ATTACK to the Wikimedia Foundation. Personal attacks in a request for advanced rights is unbecoming. Also calling someone a scammer? Seriously? You better provide diffs to back that up or redact it before you find yourself blocked here. Praxidicae (talk) 13:05, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A few things. Firstly, your accusation of racism is entirely unfounded. You can easily see by simply looking at my edits cross-wiki that the majority of editors I interact with are not American, and yet somehow the only editor I've been opposing permission requests multiple times for is you. Let's address why that is the case. In December 2018 you requested a user right on the Simple English Wikipedia, uploader rights, that no one has because we do not allow local uploading. In the same period you had serious problems with rollback on the English Wikipedia, and shortly after you gained access to OTRS despite my protesting to OTRS admins. A handful of days later, after the worst OTRS responses I've ever seen in my nearly 2 years of answering tickets, you were removed. Since then you've been requesting tons of rights you're not qualified for, and when you get them you misuse them, and they're removed. As to why I end up seeing a lot of your rights requests, it's because of my watchlists. I read nearly every request for global rights (excpet IPBE and 2FA, ofc), OTRS access, and Simple English Wikipedia userrights (especially when you go out of your way to private message me on IRC asking for rollback). I often see Wikidata requests for rights, as well as those on MediaWiki, Wikiquote, and a handful of other projects. You happen to have requested rights on most of them, multiple times, over the last few years. If you want to be trusted with userrights, you're going to need to be civil, you're going to need to build trust rather than asking for tons of hats, you're going to need to not cause drama and other problems, and you're going to need to entirely change the way you edit. If you have any intention of listening to my advice, I suggest you start by changing the listed languages on your user pages to be more accurate (you by no means have a professional knowledge of English, probably around en-2), pick a field of editing to work in (such as copyright violations on [project], writing content, antivandalism, etc.), and only request userrights when you have relevant experience, a need for the userright, and community trust. • Strong oppose in no particular order, the following concerns come to mind:
    1. The misuse of rollback on wikidata, as Vermont mentioned (see d:Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive/2020/04#User:ZI Jony)
    2. The improper tagging for deletion of valid translations (Special:Diff/3504764, Special:Diff/3504768) as "Out of scope"
    3. The lack of sysop rights on any other project (I don't count test wikis)
    4. The lack of significant contributions here on mediawiki (215 edits since your first in 2017)
    5. Not being a developer - yes, its not a requirement, but for non-developers a clear use case should be presented. You discussed deletion, but Special:DeletedContributions/ZI_Jony only shows a single deletion request in the last 4 months
Sorry, but at this point I don't believe you have demonstrated a valid use case for sysop rights --DannyS712 (talk) 11:51, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • (ec) Oppose Oppose per concerns shared above. Less than 20 pages tagged for deletion (the last one is from April) is a little too low and hasty. Not seeing much need for the tools at this moment. —[[Hasley]] 12:07, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose looks like we're doing a world tour of hat collecting in 2020. MW has more than enough sysops to deal with garden variety vandalism and spam and you've shown no demonstrated need. Praxidicae (talk) 12:45, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Oppose ZI Jony has a very big head, but alas, not big enough for all of the hats they're attempting (fruitlessly) to place atop it. More seriously, their comments in response to Vermont suggest they're not fit to hold any user permission on any project, other than (maybe) autoconfirmed. Nick (talk) 13:10, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • N Not done Closing per above, I see no reason to keep this request open for much longer given it has no chance of success. --Skizzerz 14:43, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
