Hi, I used to be an administrator on the English Wikipedia, English Wikisource, and Wikimedia Commons. I was also a developer with commit access; these permissions were all removed only for inactivity. I would like to be an administrator here to help add and update gadgets meant to be used on multiple wikis, in particular, the syntax highlighter I wrote. I think I've learned by now how to be responsible with administrator tools etc. —Remember the dot (talk) 21:23, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer that you be actively editing this wiki first... --Krenair (talkcontribs) 19:32, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be happy to let someone else do the admin work of gadget maintenance, the problem is that right now it's just not getting done. It's frustrating and it seems to me that the best solution would be to simply let me do it myself. What do you suggest? —Remember the dot (talk) 04:25, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you plan to do this on multiple wikis, global editinterface rights are usually used for this task. At the moment, though, you haven't seem to have suggested any explicit changes to interface/gadget-related pages.--Jasper Deng (talk) 04:29, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Project:Requests#New gadget: Dot's syntax highlighter and the reason why I made that request on this wiki, ResourceLoader/Migration guide (users)#Keep gadgets central. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:33, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually not so sure of your changes, and I'd seek further comment even if few comment here.--Jasper Deng (talk) 04:51, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's longstanding policy that any developer (user with commit access) can receive local adminship on this wiki. Remember the dot's mistake here seems to be trying to use this convoluted process rather than simply asking a friendly bureaucrat on his or her talk page. I kindly request that he be granted adminship here. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:59, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I will deal with the gadget issue itself tomorrow. —Remember the dot (talk) 05:31, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to have lost the ability to edit MediaWiki:Gadget-DotsSyntaxHighlighter.js. This is a problem because I can no longer add new translations, improve the code's performance by switching to ES6 features, etc. I have always been responsible and respected consensus when editing MediaWiki pages on this site, so would you please restore my ability to do so? —Remember the dot (talk) 07:32, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Remember the dot: Sure, can you enable 2FA (or confirm that you already have) first? Legoktm (talk) 15:51, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Legoktm: I just enabled 2FA and I logged out and logged back in to confirm that it is working. —Remember the dot (talk) 06:06, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
