- In step 2, go to http://www.monkey.org/~provos/libevent/ to see what the latest stable libevent release is; wget that instead.
- In steps 2, 3 and 4, when you try to configure libevent, memcached and memcache, it may say "configure: error: expected an absolute directory name for --prefix: ~/install". You'll want to instead use an absolute directory name, e.g. /home2/your_bluehost_user_name/install/. You can find your absolute path in the Stats block at the left side on the cPanel homepage or in the File Manager.
- In step 3, go to http://code.google.com/p/memcached/ to see what the latest featured download (i.e. stable release) is; wget that instead.
- In step 4, after pecl fails, you may also find that has failed to leave the memcached tgz file that you need. If so, wget the latest stable version that appears at http://pecl.php.net/package/memcached
