EnhancedUndelete.js is obsolete

Hi!

Could someone remove the gadget EnhancedUndelete.js from this list, since the feature is available by default since MW 1.18? (see also commons:MediaWiki talk:Gadget-EnhancedUndelete.js) Helder 16:09, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

GuidedTour

Please remove GuidedTour. It's been refactored into Extension:GuidedTour. The extension is not deployed to MediaWiki yet, but the gadget version is no longer maintained. Superm401 - Talk 05:27, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Technical search gadget disabled by default

I've disabled the technical search gadget by default:

  • the dropdown icon to activate the technical search, next to the search box, does not consistently appear (for example, it does not appear in Chrome).
  • autocomplete for search results is styled differently from the main search box
  • there's literally nothing discoverable that tells the user what this search box does. Wikimedia technical search has a nice description, but the name suggests that it might be usable to access http://wikitech.wikimedia.org/ , which it is not
  • it sends search traffic to Google without any visible information to this effect, which is inconsistent with our privacy policy
  • there are likely other cross-browser/OS issues that would be revealed with further testing.

This is a neat feature, and users who want it can still enable it in their preferences, but it shouldn't be enabled by default until it is more mature.--Eloquence (talk) 19:35, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Bene* has done some minor changes and the label was made more informative ("Google for wiki tech"), the autocomplete now looks the same to me (Chromium has some minor difference). I propose to enable it by default for monobook users, who get a second search bar with the label clearly visible: for them, the issues above are all solved. --Nemo 11:19, 24 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Nemo bis: I note you've just re-enabled it for all users by default, not just Monobook users, without further discussion. I do not feel it sufficiently flags the privacy policy violation clearly enough, and I think we should not enable it by default at all, and certainly not until it has been improved in this regard. Thoughts? Jdforrester (WMF) (talk) 01:33, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

German mediawiki Version 1.22.6

I installed the gadgets and the version page shows it. But features cannot be activated. As a test I switched on the UTC/Clock. But Nothing happens. --[[User:Bmrberlin| Bernd M.]] (talk) 10:09, 7 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Remove TemplateData generator

It’s now part of the TemplateData extension itself, with a very different UI. It isn’t simply duplicate, its button even looks bad with its “old” UI under the extension’s “new” UI. --Tacsipacsi (talk) 16:42, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

purgetab.js is redundant

This one seems already by default there? Oh, I see now. Wtf has the clock-gadget this included?? → User: Perhelion 06:24, 2 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

hidden

@Krinkle: Neither |hidden nor |hidden=1 works (see preferences); please restore rights=hidden. I know it’s not a “nice” way if hiding a gadget, but at least it works. --Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:37, 17 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Should be fixed now. Legoktm (talk) 08:28, 18 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Responsive?

@TheDJ: I'm not sure about the intention of that 'responsive'... if I wanted responsiveness, I would have used Minerva. I don't want 'responsive', and that's the point of using Desktop mode on mobile. I don't think enabling it by default is appropriate. Was it discussed? — Revi 10:33, 18 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

We enabled it per 'let's be bold and see what happens, we can always revert'. I congratulate you on being the first to not be happy. :) —TheDJ (Not WMF) (talkcontribs) 01:42, 19 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Disabled, as I don't want to have to deal with sour grapes. —TheDJ (Not WMF) (talkcontribs) 01:46, 19 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for disabling. I wasn't happy too (and I don't want to leave this topic with an impression of just one person being unhappy). Just as -revi I use desktop view from mobile exactly to have the same experience as from desktop. I actually thought that it was some new Vector skin feature being tested and got really confused and annoyed. Thank you for trying to improve stuff though, it is appreciated. ^_^ --Base (talk) 02:25, 19 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
