Coffee and tea

Water, sodas, and other non-alcoholic beverages will be provided throughout the conference. However, to respect the traditions and customs of our hosts, coffee and tea will not be provided at the conference. Attendees can bring coffee and tea into the conference room for personal consumption as long as it's contained within a sealed container and consumed directly from said container. Each conference attendee will be provided, free of charge, with a conference-branded reusable thermos suitable for this purpose. It is yours to keep after the conference ends — consider it a memento from this year's conference! The Radisson Hotel will provide coffee which you can fill up on. The nearest coffee shops to the FamilySearch Library are shown below and more can be found here:

Accommodations and transportation

Local accommodations

The recommended conference hotel is the Radisson Hotel Salt Lake City Downtown. The conference has a special group rate of $192/night ($225.25 after local and state hotel taxes), which represents a savings of over $50 per night. You can book with the following link:

The rate is refundable until 6pm Mountain Daylight Time of the day before your check-in date.

This rate includes free parking.

A 3-night stay will come out to $675.76 including all taxes.

Ground transportation

The closest airport is Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), which offers flights to airports all across the country. SLC is a Delta Air Lines hub.

TRAX is the local light rail system. It offers free rides within their Free Fare Zone. The Green Line directly links Salt Lake City International Airport with the Radisson Hotel and the FamilySearch Library. Official conference activities will occur within walking distance of the conference venue and the official conference hotel, or will be accessible with light rail. There will not be any need to rent any cars.

Should you be driving a car to the conference, anyone staying at the Radisson with the special conference group rate will get free parking, and there will be discounted daytime parking available nearby the conference venue. More information coming soon.

Official activities

Conference dinner

A conference dinner will be provided on the evening of Thursday, March 26. It is included as part of everyone's paid conference ticket. Companions are welcome to join if they purchase a companion ticket, costing somewhere between $50-$75. Details will be released by February 2026.

VIP guided tour

There will be a free VIP guided tour of the library on one of the afternoons; non-attendee companions are welcome.

Genealogy research experience

The FamilySearch Library are graciously offering their resources to help attendees find more information about their ancestry. There will be a short (30-60 minute) session during the conference when attendees can see what information can be found, and perhaps even find a family connection to other attendees. If you check the relevant checkbox during registration, you will be emailed by someone from FamilySearch, who will ask for whatever information you are willing to provide, up to and including DNA results (if you have them), to help them with their research. This is (in some cases) a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get genealogical research done by experts!

Social activities

Unofficial social activities are listed below. Feel free to join the MUDCon Matrix channel to discuss joining them if you are interested.

Utah Jazz basketball game

There is a Utah Jazz basketball game on March 25 at 6pm.

Skiing at Alterra ski resorts

Some attendees will be skiing at ski resorts affiliated with Alterra Mountain Company (i.e. ski resorts accessible with an Ikon Pass), such as Snowbird and Brighton, both before and after the conference. Up-to-date weather and snow pack level is available here. If that sounds like a good idea, bring your skis with you and let's shred some of that powder!

Anyone who has an Epic Pass may alternatively create their own Park City group.

Salt Lake City has a lot of restaurants to suit your food interests, see Gastronomic Salt Lake City, Utah's oldest food magazine for more ideas.
