Finalized version of the proposal[edit]

  • This need to be a bit more verbose. Someone (TM) prepare a "more text" version which we then submit
  • Send mail to mediawiki-l about it so we can get last minute input where needed.

Future of meetings[edit]

  • Video or IRC?
  • Video for discussions
  • IRC for doing the actual work
  • One more video meeting in 14 days
  • Monthly video meetings from then on


  • What do people expect to get from this?
    • In 18 months time we have two conferences about MediaWiki (in in North America, one in Europe), engage 100k system administrators to get involved
    • Create business opportunities for independent software developers
    • When i first started using mw, there wa s a lot of documentation, spread about. What I needed was someone else to point me at stuff (you know, like anti-spam stuff that is fairly common), and give a steer to new adopters
    • Contribute to extensions
    • Then also to be able to have a convo wit mw devs about the roadmap and whether this would have effects on current running systems (like plans for php version min reqs etc,)
    • The next time I upgrade my wiki farm nothing breaks
    • Contributing back to the mediawiki ecosystem
    • Keep an eye on development affecting third party users
    • MediaWiki to be better than Wordpress, Google and Facebook!
