How to redirect users back to HTTP after HTTPS login?[edit]

How to achieve the above on on MW 1.22? Harnas1977 (talk) 10:49, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Does not work[edit]

I just added this to my MediaWiki 1.19.22 installation, but it does not work. The user is not redirected to HTTPs on login and even the form is not posted to https. The only thing changed is a checkbox that has appeared under the login form. --Bachsau (talk) 08:13, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

prefershttps doesn't exist?[edit]

Suggested update: limits of $wgSecureLogin[edit]

Per T219350, I'd like to suggest adding a note to the documentation that under certain circumstances (serving http and https in parallel on a web server hosting mediawiki, specifying http in the location and adding the fromhttp=1 query parameter) the login page will be downgraded from https to http, perhaps unbeknownst to mediawiki users (a small message does appear above the username field).
