  • “ML SREs” will move under new management (same as DP SREs)
• Topics:
  • Kubernetes v1.31 patch level upgrade (to 1.31.14) rolled out T427065
  • Status of the Kubernetes minor version upgrade T427069
    • Target is 1.34
    • All core components are updateable to versions compatible with k8s 1.31 and 1.34 so we’ll update them before doing k8s
    • [JW] is on board again to help with the updates. Already rolled out a new helm version and started on updating calico
    • [BJ] will take a stab at updating kube-state-metrics and CoreDNS
    • The istio-cni binary was not updated during the last k8s/istio upgrade. This was an oversight by [JM] and the ML cluster maintainers (since they are the sole users of it) but it does not seem to be an issue. We should update it together with istio to 1.29 now though. [JM] will build the package and [TK] will take care of testing in the ml staging cluster.
  • Test CoreDNS kubepods plugin to fix T428573
    • [CD] will kick this off/try to build coredns with kubepods plugin and sync with [BJ] to hand it over
  • [CD] ST6 will potentially revive the openbao/vault discussion/planning again to replace puppet  secrets management
