Help:Extension:UniversalLanguageSelector/Input methods/Africa
It's possible to type in the languages of Africa on all Wikimedia sites (and also on translatewiki.net), with all the special characters that cannot be typed on common keyboards.
To enable the keyboard layout, also known as "input method", follow these instructions:
- Click the search box at the top of the page.
- Click the little keyboard icon that appears near the search box.
- If the little keyboard icon doesn't appear, do the following: Click the gear icon near the "Languages" list in the sidebar, click "Input", click "Enable input tools", and click "Apply settings". If you cannot find this gear icon, click on the language next to the "文A" icon at the top of the screen.
- If your language's name appears at the top of the list that is shown after you click the little keyboard icon, select the name of the layout you want, such as "Yoruba tilde" or "ትራንስልተራትዖን".
- If your language's name doesn't appear at the top of the list, do the following:
- Click "..." at the bottom of the list. A panel will appear.
- Find your language in the list in the panel. Click it. If you cannot find your language here, please contact the developers.
- Click the little keyboard icon again, and select the layout you want.
Clicking the question mark (?) icon next to the layout name will show you a help page about using that particular layout.
The detailed list of languages and instructions for using each keyboard are in the table below. If your language is not in the table, please contact the developers.
