MediaWiki requires users to confirm their email addresses before using the email feature to prevent issues like fake addresses, bounced replies, or spam. Logging in and editing pages doesn't require email confirmation. Also, providing an email address during registration is optional.

Status

Check your preferences settings to see if your email address has been confirmed.

If you change your email address, you will be automatically sent another email to allow you to confirm it again.

How to confirm an email

1. In the preferences settings, navigate to the User profile section, and go to the Email options sub-section. Below the sentence Email confirmation: you will see a pop-up message, click on Confirm your email address.
2. A confirmation link will be sent to your email address. Click on the link to confirm your email address.
