There appears to be nothing in the repository other than a markdown file and a file from git. Now I don't know just about anything about mediawiki extensions but this doesn't appear to have any code. What gives?

Indeed. Looks like it was changed to use a download template, but I'm guess the actual extension code was never moved into git. The code seems to still exist as a subpage though.
