I could not find any documentation about the API.

– I assume it would be nice to have the 2nd paragraph, since it is far more graspable than the first.

– "hooks into a file description page": I assume this is a file description page of the media wiki Wikibase and this extension are installed on?

– "file description page and adds a link to a MediaInfo page": I assume it adds the link to the file description page.
