Extension talk:Semantic Drilldown/Possible additions

From mediawiki.org

Hi Yaron, I haven't installed the Semantic Drilldown extension yet but I'm working towards getting it onto the Melpedia. Once I've implmented there I'll be able to give you more feedback on it. Rodeoclash 12:04, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Supporting new datastore[edit]

Hi Yaron, my preference would be support for the new SMW datastore. Other than that I think most of your suggestions are pretty good, my personal favourite would be the output on a Google map ;-) Most important I think is 1.1... Greetings from Bernhard

SD already supports the new SQL store; the bug you saw is actually related to the tag cloud display, of all things. But I'll try to fix it soon. Yaron Koren 13:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Configuring tag cloud[edit]

It would be nice to be able to switch tag clouds on and of not only globally, but for each filter. - Bernhard

That's an interesting idea. How does the idea of tag clouds fit in for you with the idea of only showing the most popular values for each filter on the main page, i.e. 1.1? It would seem that a tag cloud is less important when there's a limited number of values, but I could be wrong. Yaron Koren 13:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think a tag cloud can also be important when only showing most important items. E. g. when there are lots of entries with only 1 occurence that would make the tag cloud to big. Then one could configure that a limited number of (most popular) values are shown, even with the tag cloud display enabled. ~ Bernhard

Display option: hide filters[edit]

If you have many filters with may attributes, it may be disireable to have the Browse data page displayed with all filters "closed", meaning that the filters are displayed, but the user has to click on one to see the attributes. Now it is the other way around: all filters with all attributes are shown and the user can manually hide the attributes of one (or more) filters. - Bernhard

Rss feeds for search/filter[edit]

Hi, will be great if for each search we do, we have a new rss feed be generated. So we could see if we have new articles or changes on what we search/filter.
