thx for this extension, it works fine with me. but i'm using a search extension called "sphinx search", which still returns the not permitted page title. And i use "Extension:Restrict access by category and group" to control the user rights. what can i do to get the sphinx search works as expected? 07:08, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

i modified the codes of sphinxsearch, successfully make the information not be shown. but there remains a big problem, actually a same problem that the author didn't solve. In this extension, the author provide a method to modify "specialsearch.php". Yes, we can not see the hidden information due to permission, but the count number on the page still remains there. I meet the same problem too. Worse more, sphinxsearch ilustrates the search result pages like "1 2 3 4 5 6", 10 docs in each page. After the modifying there may be only 2 docs on the first page ,2 docs on the third page, and a little on the last page. Other docs are just hidden as a result of modifying, but still have a position there. When users get this search result, it's difficult to guess which page has docs and should he click that page.

I don't know how to solve this problem. 07:40, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

SphinxSearch extension is being rewritten to follow current MediaWiki model for search pages, which should make it easier to fix issues like this one. It probably does not make sense to try to fix this for the current release of the extension. Svemir Brkic 23:21, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Missing Protections[edit]

It seems the following two situations are not covered by the patches:

  • User Contributions (SpecialContributions.php)
  • Gallery of new files (SpecialNewImages.php)

Not too hard to manually add, once you look at the existing merges, but something to keep in mind when implementing this feature. 03:22, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
