This extension vs. Wikidata[edit]

What is the relationship of this extension with bugzilla:40810, where they are planning to store good and featured article data on Wikidata? --Silvonen (talk) 17:22, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

We'll see when something comes out of that. I think it would be great to have the GA and FA badge data available in Wikidata and the badges displayed adjacent to interwiki links in all language versions of Wikipedia. This would render the {{FA|xx}} templates obsolete (these are updated by bots currently). I'm supporting the implementation of the Wikidata side of things (what the bug is referring to), if I understood correctly that the implemention is related to interwiki links. However, I don't know how they're going to implement it -- if they're planning a feature to add and edit a badge in local Wikipedia and have the badge displayed in the upper right corner? This extension would provide us with an interface for adding and editing the badges in every local language version of Wikipedia that would want to use the extension. Maybe Wikidata could be used to implement this, but language versions of Wikipedia have different badges (they vary) and what would the interface be like in/adding into Wikidata? It would be neat if Wikidata could do these both though. The Wikidata implementation would probably work and could be a better solution, but would we still need a local interface for adding and editing the badges (the badge still has to be chosen somehow)? --Hartz (talk) 19:02, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think that adding and editing the badges in local Wikipedias should require a user right. I think it would lead into a mess if every editor would be allowed to add and edit badges in the local Wikipedia (or in Wikidata). I don't know who would check if the data in Wikidata would be correct if badge data could be freely edited. This extension would create a user right e.g. for administrators and the right could be assigned to specific users. The badges should be given locally in my opinion and there should be this control -- I think this would be best implemented by having the user right. --Hartz (talk) 19:16, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Also interesting for Wikisource[edit]

Wikisource uses the Extension:ProofreadPage which also keeps the status of the page, so maybe it could also benefit from this.--Micru (talk) 14:09, 1 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Where is the source code?[edit]

@Hartz: : Could you add a link to this page explaining where to find the source code? --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:28, 18 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
