Docker is a virtualization software that allows administrators and developers to use "containers" to share environments containing software. These containers are isolated from other software running on the same computer. Docker is one way to deploy and run MediaWiki.
The Docker SIG is a Special Interest Group for people working with MediaWiki and related technologies on Docker.
There are no recommended MediaWiki docker images yet. Wikimedia production will be moving to use docker images as part of the "Streamlined Services Delivery" program for continuous deployment, but these are not available yet.
In the mean time, there are several sources of possible images shown below; you should use these at your own risk:
- The initially-run-by-Docker "official" repository for MediaWiki can be found at: https://hub.docker.com/_/mediawiki/, and is developed at https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-docker.
- The MediaWiki-Docker-Dev project has built
- https://github.com/pastakhov/compose-mediawiki-ubuntu (MediaWiki + Memcached + Parsoid + RESTBase + Elasticsearch + Vagrant).
