Like last year, the most commonly used environments for respondents with 4+ years tenure is a self-created environment and Docker. However, this year the most commonly used environment by respondents with 0-3 years tenure is a self-created environment, while in previous years is has been Docker.

Fragmentation
⅓ of people said there are too many development environments.
It would be great to really start pushing for a single, canonically supported tool, rather than a bunch of similar tools with overlapping sets of available features.
Configurability
22% of answer mention some part of their local environment that is hard to use.
Running bare-metal is easier to edit, easier to hook up to a debugger in an IDE
