why not using BASEPAGENAME ?

In current <tvar|pagename>Extensions by content source</> , why cannot we use dynamic value of {{BASEPAGENAME}} as in <tvar|pagename>{{BASEPAGENAME}}</> instead of the hard coded string ? Thanks.
