Why is this necessary?[edit]

Why is it necessary to have a separate action=talk action while talk pages are really just articles like any other and can be edited through action=edit as well? --Catrope 13:24, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You're right. Editing or creating discussions are specific cases for editing or creating articles. But we've preferred to define a new action to keep on working on action=edit. Basic functionality is ready, but we need to add support for extensions. Once new EditPage.php and associated ApiEditPage.php can be merged to the trunk, we will be in the position to add the couple of input parameters to the request to allow the edition of talks within the action=edit. --Raquel Frisa 16:14, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

That should be possible already. Simply use action=edit&eptitle=Talk:Articlename or look up the right prefix (User talk: for the User: namespace, for instance) in the namespaces table. Again, I don't see how editing talk pages should be any different from editing normal articles. --Catrope 15:37, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
