::{{Ping|QChris (WMF)}} I'm not sure why you're asking Paladox2017 about this, because he didn't file this request, I did; Paladox2017 commented as an "outsider", pointing out a fact that has essentially been true since the extension in question was originally committed to SVN, in 2008. Ever since that it has been maintained by volunteer MediaWiki developers, including, but not limited to myself, iAlex, Purodha and many others.<br />Furthermore I also fail to understand why you would have contacted the maintainer, because the original author, [[User:Macbre|Maciej Brencz]], didn't even commit it to SVN in 2008, but another Wikia developer did, and as mentioned before, there '''hasn't been''' a formal "maintainer" for WhosOnline in '''years'''. The extension has been tagged with [[Template:Unmaintained extension|<code><nowiki>{{Unmaintained extension}}</nowiki></code>]] since [https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Extension:WhosOnline&diff=933988&oldid=543816 March 2014]. It's absurd that this trivial request has taken 9-10 days (depending on your timezone) to be completed. --[[User:Jack Phoenix|Jack Phoenix]] ([[User talk:Jack Phoenix|Contact]]) 03:51, 30 October 2014 (UTC) |

::: {{Ping|Jack_Phoenix}} Asking Paladox2017 about maintainership was “QChris mixing up requests”. I'm sorry. You clearly stated that it's you want to maintain it. So we have a maintainer now, and I created the repo. {{done}} |
::: Reaching out to the past maintainers (even though they might no longer be active) is a separate thing though. Previously, I just imported the SVN repos. But people reached out to me saying that I am not treating people/requests alike, and I should give authors a chance to chime in. That request is valid, so I now try to reach out for requests where community members want to become maintainer of an existing extension from SVN. |
::: And even [[Template:Unmaintained extension|<code><nowiki>{{Unmaintained extension}}</nowiki></code>]] says “As a courtesy, you may want to contact the author.” so I contact the author, if I am not pointed to a public statement from the author that it's ok to grant people write access and grant a week time to respond. After all, it's the author's code. |
::: If you think this process needs to get sped up, I am all for it. Please start a discuss around it. I'll gladly just import SVN code again, as I did before. But only if there is consensus that we should do this. --[[User:QChris (WMF)|QChris (WMF)]] ([[User talk:QChris (WMF)|talk]]) 10:45, 30 October 2014 (UTC) |

Click here to visit the main Git repositories request page. Your edit has been added there. This page is meant only to feed entries into the primary new Git repositories request page. The wikitable syntax is intentionally left "open" to allow for new entries submitted via the Request button. Closing the table here will break it on other wikipages. |
