Add Media Wizard i18n[edit]
Hi Mdale, who should I contact to help clarify a few doubts regarding the translation of Add Media Wizard interface messages? Hamilton Abreu 18:00, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

- You can catch me on IRC as "mdale", directly ask the question or point me to the issue on translatewiki, and we can add some comment documentation to the msg key Mdale 03:28, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if I may, I'd prefer to list a few points, some of which are of a more general nature and not prone to handle through IRC. I'll contact you directly at translatewiki:User:Mdale.

mwEmbed gadget description[edit]
Hi, could you possibly help with a clearer description of the mwEmbed gadget? This is discussed at Commons:Commons:Village_pump#MediaWiki:Gadget-mwEmbed. Thanks! Rd232 13:50, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Image licensing[edit]
I'm not sure that you can license screenshots including the interfaces of proprietary browsers using {{MW-screenshot}}. Am I missing something here?--Jasper Deng (talk) 00:42, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- ah... These are screen shots of the mw software, on various devices and browsers found in the real world. Are you suggesting that we can only freely licence screenshots of our software that existing in a pure GPL free software platform stack? What about the proprietary operating system; if running a free browser in a proprietary operating system ? What about the proprietary drivers in the camera; proprietary image filters acting as a window to the "world that we see" ? If your friend is holding a proprietary phone with a proprietary OS screen; is that photo automatically un-free? What license would you suggest? I would think the whole point of that option in the license selection is so that we can do basic QA iteration sharing. But let me know if you think there is a better option. thanks --Mdale (talk) 00:57, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- IMO if it includes IE/iOS/Windows Phone etc. it should be licensed as non-free, with a non-free use rationale.--Jasper Deng (talk) 01:04, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
- You are correct, if the UI is shown. So I should either crop or re-license. as non-free. But it clearly was the closest option available in the license selection since it is a mediawiki screen shot ;)
