Page removal[edit]
Diego, you removed edits to Manual:Backing up a wiki and also my new page Restoring a wiki from cached HTML but you did not give any grounds for doing so. I find that to be extremely unfriendly. If you have a good reason for doing that, please explain. Jdpipe 08:30, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- I moved it to the talk page of Backing up a wiki, I didn't remove it. Let's see if other people wants it. --Diego Grez return fire 17:56, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- What on earth are you doing???? This is new content, you can't just move it straight away to a talk page! I'm restoring it again and if you want to discuss the content, please discuss it on the TALK PAGE for the NEW PAGE I've created. Delete it again and I'm going to complain to someone else. Jdpipe 02:09, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Jdpipe, again, I'm telling you nicely, ask on the talk page of Manual:Backing up a wiki to let people think about including the content on that page, not writing an article that is even on the main namespace, when it should be on Manual anyway. And I'm not deleting it, it's on here for further community discussion. --Diego Grez return fire 02:12, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- If you're cleaning up the main namespace you might want to look at these other infestations: Category:MediaWiki administration. Jdpipe 02:40, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- No sir. I just move the pages. I'm not even an admin to protect or delete pages. :) --Diego Grez return fire 02:43, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm edithing Extension:CategoryTree/pt, but Im not save now. Wait that'll I'm create more pages /pt still. Sory my bad English. Mateus95860 Cont. 18:01, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- I speak Portuguese because I am Brazilian. I'm translating extensions because the number of translation extensions in Portuguese is shameful ;D Mateus95860 Cont. 18:09, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Question: Why when I put the template:Languages on the Portuguese page the word Português does not appear in bold in template? Example: In the template Manual:$IP/pt don't appear Português in template, but in Manual:$IP/es appears Español in template. What can it be? Mateus95860 Cont. 21:42, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- It appears. --Diego Grez return fire 22:34, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Hiya[edit]
Sure, how exactly do I test it? Tisane 18:28, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I followed those instructions and purged the page. What is it supposed to do? Tisane 19:10, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- It seems to work pretty well. Tisane 19:16, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yay! :D --Diego Grez return fire 19:21, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

I found that my first extension was pretty hard to write, but then again, that was when I new to PHP and knew hardly any of the MediaWiki codebase; plus it was kind of an ambitious extension the way I originally conceived it. (See Extension:RPED/Development notes.) You may as well give it a try; you're probably resourceful enough to succeed. Tisane 17:38, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Great. I'll read it. Thanks for the info =) --Diego Grez return fire 18:04, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I was just using that as an example of how I set a pretty ambitious goal for that project. You may want to look instead at list of simple extensions. Tisane 19:26, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- OK. Thanks. All I want is to get started at developing extensions =) --Diego Grez return fire 19:27, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
- What do you want your extension to do, if you don't mind my asking? Tisane 00:55, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it is maybe too complicated to be my first one, but I would make it similar to Special:Import, but with the ability to import files from other wikis (with a transwiki-file group, I was thinking of). I think it is a good idea, but it may take me some time, again, because it is my first one. I'm reading SpecialImport.php's code, to have an idea of what will I have to do. Cheers. --Diego Grez return fire 00:59, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
- It's not necessarily a bad idea to do a complicated extension as your first one; although sometimes it helps to break the project up into separate parts and start with the easy parts first, so it doesn't seem so overwhelming. E.g., what you are talking about involves at least two steps: (1) getting the data and (2) adding it to the wiki, which you can implement and test separately. Maybe see also API:Edit_-_Import#Interwiki; wikis on the same wiki farm can already import interwiki. There are a lot of interwiki integration projects presently underway; see also User:Peter17/Reasonably efficient interwiki transclusion for instance, so it's good to keep tabs on the listservs to see what kind of stuff is being talked about. Good luck. Tisane 04:06, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

May you wield the mop dexterously. :) Tisane 01:46, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

notitle[edit]
if youre not going to have the closing bracket then dont put the opening one in. 67.182.168.147 01:52, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- No, it works both ways, but almost always the closing brackets aren't used. --Diego Grez return fire 01:53, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
"Test edit" messag on talk page.[edit]
You placed a message on my talk page saying that I had done a "test" somewhere, and that I should use the sandbox. Which "test" edit are you talking about? (Just curious if my account has been hacked or something, because I haven't made any test edits here recently. Thanks -- Jrtayloriv 00:15, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
G5Live - New to this[edit]
Hi Diego,
I am new here to mediawiki. I tried to create a new page, but it was removed by you. I have question. How would I be able to use mediawiki, to create a page where the user would have to log in to view information from my domain. Please help, because i would like to do this for my site, but do not know where to start.
Thanks,
G5Live
- MediaWiki.org is not a spam arena or test wiki. For that, you can use http://www.testwiki.org Cheers. --Diego Grez ¡hablemos! 03:53, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
- Or the sandbox. Tisane 02:48, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, but I'm sure that by "I be able to use mediawiki, to create a page where the user would have to log in to view information from my domain" means he was trying to spam his website. Thanks for the suggestion to G5Live though! :) Diego Grez ¡hablemos! 02:50, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Removing my IP address from page history[edit]
Hi, Diego. Thanks for your note.
Why would I want to have my IP address removed from the page history? I created the subject page and made a series of revisions, and it appears that when I made one of them I was not logged in. Does it matter if the recognition for the contribution goes to the IP address and not my username?
Thanks,
--PerkinsTaylor 01:33, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- (tps) It's permanently scarred on the page. If you want anonymity that's OK. OpenTheWindows 01:40, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

What was the point of adding that template where there are no translations[1]? :) Max Semenik 05:49, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, that doesn't mean it cannot be translated :) --Diego Grez ¡hablemos! 17:25, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
Extension:Oversight 2[edit]
Regarding Extension:Oversight 2,
I do not believe there was a consensus to delete that page, given that there were two votes each for and against. Was that not the case? Unless the policy here is drastically different that at sister wikis, I do believe that that is a requirement for deletion.
--Shaiaqua 20:56, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- Therein lies the problem - why is your opinion sufficient to create a consensus in the face of opposing votes? --Shaiaqua 22:01, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
-
- Thank you. Although I am sure you are acting in good faith, I appreciate that you are willing to get another opinion into the matter. --Shaiaqua 22:47, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

what the fuck[edit]
Hi,
What are you doing with user:KnuxD?
A image on your userpage is in scope, you revert to a vandalised version and you block the user without warnings?
Please explain, Abigor 18:23, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
