Some possible improvements to Asirra

Hi, Bachsau - some of the MediaWiki developers started looking at the Asirra module in ConfirmEdit, and have made some comments about it, here. It would probably be worthwhile to look into these potential issues. Yaron Koren 22:00, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

I already know about this and will change it in future versions. Please note I'm doing this in my free time and updates are coming when I've time for it. When I started to code Asirra on 1.15 there was no $wgExtensionAssetsPath and I also tried to find information about http wrappers and even xml parsers in MediaWiki, but without success. Documentation on MediaWiki is horrible. It took me hours to find out about things. --Bachsau 22:52, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm not going to argue that documentation on MW is great -- it isn't -- but if you need help, I find that asking in #mediawiki on IRC (webchat link if you don't have an IRC client) yields good results. I'm "hexmode" on IRC.

Help with Asirra needed..

We are trying to use Asirra, and have successfully installed in at http://en.wikiChiro.org, and really appreciate the extension. We have installed it at http://www.ourmed.org and no matter what we do, we get an error saying "incorrect or missing confirmation code". I have uninstalled it, copied the exact files from the wikichiro extensions directory. I have confirmed that it is installed the same way. Just does this regardless. Any ideas? The phrase you cited reads "Please correctly identify the cats." in the Asirra-Module, which means that Asirra is not the active captcha method. This is often caused by having $wgCaptchaClass assigned in LocalSettings.php. Try to search and remove this line from your configuration file. There may be other reasons for the error which I can't tell just from the facts. If removing $wgCaptchaClass doesn't help, you may post your configuration file here, along with differences in the server configuration and file-system layout. I'll try to release an updated version asap, which should be easier to install and features cleaner code. --Bachsau 01:35, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
