User list[edit]

Do we know if http://tools.wikimedia.de/~leon/toolserver/ still works? I don't see myself, for example, and my ~/.about.me is readable. – Mike.lifeguard | @meta 04:22, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

I can't read your .about.me file from the nightshade command line. My guess is that /home/lifeguard/ has the wrong permissions. --MZMcBride 10:43, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
I thought I had already checked that - but I guess not. Thanks! – Mike.lifeguard | @meta 15:52, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

http://toolserver.org/~leon/toolserver/ now shows "404: User account expired". :(   — Jeff g. ツ 01:14, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

You may use http://toolserver.org/~krinkle/TSUsers.php . Based on leon's old script + some extras. Krinkle 01:05, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

View all the tools[edit]

Q: Where can I view all of the available tools and their functionalities?
A: Sorry, but you can't.

Why not? I'm just curious as to the reason behind this. -- OlEnglish 10:28, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

In the past we had m:Toolserver/TStoc with a nifty front end. The maintenance of this list is pretty awful since every single aspect has to be updated by hand. The front end was no help for end users as things were pretty hard to navigate. Features such as user ratings and tool popularity were never implemented. The front end was finally deactivated after interiot failed to renew his account.
Technically, a fully automated public listing of all executable script is possible, but it is not a good idea. Beside no guarantees on tools working, the author may not want public access due to security or other reasons. Such a system would have to be opt-in and then you'd still be missing those descriptions. Dispenser 03:14, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
