Toolserver has been replaced by Toolforge. As such, the instructions here may no longer work, but may still be of historical interest.

The following survey should show how eager the tool-authors are for moving to (Tool-)Labs. You are allowed to vote if you have or had a toolserver-account. This survey will start at 2. May 0:00 UTC and will end at 16. May 24:00 UTC.

  7. Legoktm I have a few things moved already, most are still on the TS but really all I want is a stable host and db access.
  8. Kolossos In the moment I test toollabs, looks fine, much easier than wikilabs. Have a problem to work with sftp under my project account, I don't want to edit in a terminal, hope we find a solution for this. I depend on other users (dispenser, master and sk) with some tools and depend strong on OpenStreetMap database with other tools. So we will see, perhaps some tools will run on toolserver until 2014. BTW.: We need also a solution to edit links to all of our tools in different wikis.
  9. Hazard-SJ I'm not really in a rush, because Toolserver is easier to use and there is also the useful database replication. Most of my tools are still running from Toolserver (I have/had only 1 on labs ... still trying to get familiar with that place). Hazard-SJ Talk 06:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

  6. Bawolff toolserver serves the purpose I use it for, and serves it well. I don't see any particular reason to move, and hence don't want to for the same reason I would avoid fixing something that isnt broken. The only benefit I see to labs is it would allow me to host mw installs in test configurations, which would be useful to me, but that's a rather separate use case than what I use the toolserver for.
  7. Mormegil Basically, I have nothing against Labs, and I might be in a mood to play with it one day, but as Bawolff said, any time spent migrating the (very few) tools I have on Toolserver somewhere else is basically time wasted. --Mormegil 12:23, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

  3. TB (Topbanana) - I tried to migrate a few of my simpler tools in February with no success. I'll probably try again in July and see if the necessary infrastructure (both technical and administrative) is ready.
  4. Eccenux 20:41, 31 May 2013 (UTC) - if I could switch with a click and see that everything is working and replag is small then I would move now. Sorry, but replication is crucial to one of my tools. But I hear that SVN is not really welcome, so not yet...

  1. Mono - I don't have time to mess with the never-ending maze of instances and projects on labs unless someone at the WMF or WMDE does it for me.
  2. Hydriz - I am already using Labs a lot, but I rather have two "Toolserver"s so that users can have an option to use either one.

  6. Same as Hydriz. I don't do much on TS, mostly DB queries, so unlike e.g. Bryan's (very worrying) I don't expect my "vote" to count, but the few little things I do are quite TS-specific and I won't migrate them, although maybe at some point I will do something similar again from scratch elsewhere. --Nemo 07:23, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

  2. cyberpower678 (for the most part). I didn't want to but, from what I gathered, it toolserver was going to die no matter what. Both sides have advantages. To server has replication and ease of setup while labs allows you ton install MediaWiki. I needed MediaWiki for some of my work. After considering all of this, I thought to move because it was either now or when toolserver supposedly dies.
