Add pre-made citation and image templates to VE, it's already in conventional source code mode

In the conventional edit source method, on the top toolbar there's a function for editors to select from a variety of pre-made reference templates, e.g. template for book references, website citations, newspaper citations etc, and all editors had to do was fill in the necessary info in the blanks in a popup window to formulate the citations. There's also a similar function for adding images, letting users to format the size and positioning. These pre-made templATES are very useful and convenient for editors, and are valuable for editors who aren't proficient in Wikicoding. The lack of this feature is an obstacle block preventing editors from using VE as much as they liked to.

The references part is already in the pipeline, not sure about the images however.

Thanks for your note. The newest update to VisualEditor has more image-handling options than the edit toolbar that you've been using. If you haven't looked for a while, then feel free to play around in my sandbox here at MediaWiki to see what's happened. MediaWiki's version of VisualEditor is always a week or two ahead of Wikipedia's.

Last I heard, w:en:Wikipedia:RefToolbar/2.0 (the citation tool that you are presumably talking about) was only available at the English Wikipedia. It is not available at German, Spanish, French, etc. Wikipedias, nor is it available in other English projects, like the English Wiktionary. The VisualEditor team is working on a similar tool, with, they hope, the significant improvement that it will work at all of the projects instead of just one. You can see their current ideas at VisualEditor/Design/Reference Dialog and leave your suggestions on its talk page. This is a complex tool to get right, so it will probably be a while before we get to test it, much less to use it.
