See - the = in the url made the template not work correctly. Is there a way to fix this?

This is not related to VisualEditor. Even if you add the template without VisualEditor it won't work as expected if you add the same URL there. Something should be fixed in the template instead.

True, however, as Templates would never receive parameter-names (bla=...) through the VE-interface, its safe to assume for VE that the "=" doesn't indicate a new named parameter. Couldn't VE encode = to %3D or would that create other issues? Or otherwise throw a warning?
