Descriptions + Edit summaries are redundant

I recently got the following notification:

Your edit on Talk:VisualEditor has been reverted by Jdforrester (WMF) (Show changes)

"Undo revision 676542 by Ypnypn (talk) - will reply there."

The words "Undo revision 676542 by Ypnypn (talk)" are totally unnecessary. There are probably similar problems with other notices. A link was provided if I really wanted to know the revision #.

That is only there because that part is an automatic edit summary. There's currently a disconnect between the fact that Echo knows about reverts but history doesn't. Echo can't really do anything about that fact directly.

That aside comments are important. You do want the comment there for when the editor gives a proper comment.

I think we should leave Echo as-is but push for a change in core recording revert information inside the revision table and having history, diff, contribs, etc... expose that information. Then we can consider killing off these automatic edit summaries.
