Topic on Skin talk:Chameleon

Hi!

I'm currently testing this skin to update the Wiki I'm hosting. One thing that is missing for me in comparison to the old skins (Vector etc) is that there is no immediate visual feedback whether a discussion/Talk page exists for the current page. I have to drop down the "Page Tools" to see that. In the old skins there was a tab "Discussion" and if that link was red there is no talk page for this page. Any possibility to have this with the current version of the skin (for instance by editing the layout.xml?) or an extension?

Hi Bernhard, it's difficult. The page tools menu is where the discussion tab went (along with Edit, History, Delete, etc.). You could adjust the layout XML and add the line with the PageTools back in (similar to how standard.xml does it), but that would add not only the discussion, but also the rest of them. You would then have to use CSS to hide all the links you do not want.

Another option would be to adapt the php of the NavBarHorizontal component. Or create some new component.

Any suggestion how this could actually look like on the screen?

OK. So that means: currently No (it's not a dealbreaker for me but I would have hated to miss it if it was possible)

Haven't thought about the look (I would have taken anything). Ideas are: - A link "Talk" that is either red or blue (depending on whether a talk page is present) - In navbar.xml a third icon on the right (something indicating "talk") like the Messages-icon
