Referencing.

I must have been tired yesterday. I answered this but did not post the answer. The site link to the site is here but I (think) I have it set up that no one can edit it yet. References in the form of < ref > < /ref > returns <cite_reference_link> and sometimes <cite_error>. Originally absolutely nothing happened and when I used the form < ref > </ref > it just returned everything as if it were plain text. So I installed cite.php and cite_body.php. And now I just get <cite_reference_link> where I should have a number to a footnote. I can do it fine here at MediaWiki, eg. [1] I am using ver 1.18. I have hit a wall. Does this make any sense to anyone?

I see this under special:version "Parser extension tags" - < gallery >, < nowiki >, < pre >, < ref > and < references > So I took out the call to "cite.php" and now I get no error messages just the ref brackets and the information inside as plain text. Also taking out the call to cite (that is, removing this sentence from localsettings.php :require_once("$IP/extensions/Cite.php"); -- also removes the ref and references from the Parser extension tag list.
