I purged all the cached images by going to . Now all JPGs are upside down. Did you recently upgrade your MW or imagemagick installation or something ? At some point the software stack started respecting the 'orientation' parameter of the JPGs, which it didn't in the past. And when I go to the original it also shows upside down for me, so likely the EXIF orientation actually tells mediawiki that this image should be rendered upside down. You should rotate the original with an external application and then reupload it, and re purge all the thumbnails.
I put following line into localsettings: $wgShowEXIF = false;
It seems to be ok now.
Oh, that shouldn't work... The displaying of the EXIF should be independent from it being available for use. I should file a bug report on that
