I've noticed the importImages.php enables one to upload images from a local directory. I would like to do this for a pdf instead of an image and importImages.php doesn't seem to work with the .pdf extension.

I had commented out $wgFileExtensions in the LocalSettings.php file which was set to 'pdf'. I had alread uploaded pdf files before, so I didn't think this was the source of the problem. Now it works and yes I know there is the --extension that I could have used. Silly mistake on my part.
