Version Mediawiki 1.15.4 (on my computer) PHP 5.3.0 (apache2handler)

Hi I have recently updated from Microsoft Office 2003 to Office 2013. I am now unable to upload docx files. I have added docx to Local Settings. when I attempt to upload a docx file I can see that docx files are permitted: Permitted file types: png, gif, jpg, jpeg, docx, pdf, doc, xls, ppt.

However why I try I get the message: Cannot upload this file because Internet Explorer would detect it as "application/zip", which is a disallowed and potentially dangerous file type.

I checked on the MediaWiki extensions page and as suggested added: $wgAllowJavaUploads = true;

But that did not make any difference. I have a feeling that this maybe because I am running an old version of MediaWiki!

MediaWiki 1.15 is vulnerable and no longer supported, and this problem doesn't happen on new versions of MediaWiki. Please upgrade.

As alternative, there's a hack for older versions: Thread:Project:Support desk/Trying to upload a doc file gives error: "Cannot upload this file because Internet Explorer would detect it as "application/msword", which is a disallowed and potentially dangerous file type."
