The cause of the gap is the stack of <br />-tags below your inserted header. removing those fixes it.
ok, but where should i remove that? i didn't add it there!
Well, it's not part of MediaWiki. I guess you (or who/whatever made this menu bar integrate with MediaWiki) added it.
It's also on your sites' pages outside MediaWiki, so probably part of some kind of central header include.
