Help installing multple categories to sidebar.

Help please,

I have installed latest mediawiki software (v 1.18.1) on standard skin, but am a little confused how to add Multiple category trees' to the side bar.

Can someone please tell me the step by step how to do this.

i.e. I want to add categories.
