Talk:Pending Changes enwiki trial/Feature ideas

Explanation[edit]

I worked on the closure discussion, and can tell you what I think these were about. Ocaasi 06:12, 17 September 2010 (UTC) (comment copied to this page from Talk:Pending Changes enwiki trial/Roadmap by RobLa-WMF 01:10, 18 September 2010 (UTC))Reply

Easy[edit]

  • Better links to documentation on PC related specialpages
The review page could have links to Help documentation, reviewer guidelines, and PC policy pages.
  • Incorporate the PC protection rationale (protection log message) into the review screen as instruction to the reviewer
Make the protection rationale visible (currently it's click-to-expand). That way Reviewers could see up front if PC was in use for Vandalism, BLP, edit warring, etc. Helps alert them to the 'type' of problematic edits, particularly more subtle kinds.
  • Add short reviewer instructions to the review page
Just a summary of how to review. Depends on policy discussions about reverting vandalism or also poor edits. Currently could just include the reviewer guidelines writ small.
  • Quick link to Pending Changes specialpages
Easy access from the sidebar, or other common locations (not sure where).
  • Notification of PCs on your watchlist
Watchlisted articles with PC would be flagged/starred/tagged/highlighted, so editors can choose to avoid them, or know what they're getting into (like on the Recent Changes log), possibly implemented already.

Info[edit]

  • Different logo for PC/Reviewers
There was a discussion at PC/Feedback to use a different logo: a magnifying glass, a check mark, or something other than the current version.
  • Make page protection log more visible (reviewing depends on protection reason, but it's hidden by default) Is this the same as "Incorporate the PC protection rationale (protection log message) into the review screen as instruction to the reviewer."?
Yes, that's the same as above.

Substantial[edit]

  • Less edit clutter
Also see Talk:Pending_Changes_enwiki_trial/Reversion_collapsing, for a link to a userscript that does this.

Deferred revisions[edit]

Please take a look at w:Wikipedia:Deferred revisions. The idea is to allow the abuse filter to delay for review edits it identifies as potentially harmful. Cenarium 02:46, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes! This was actually supported by even the most hardened opposition to PC. They saw it as more directly targeted to the vandalism-fighting purposes than the current implementations which can function as 'good edit' reviews. It seems like a win regardless of a broader PC rollout. Ocaasi 16:50, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Patrolled revisions and tagged changes[edit]

What is the status of patrolled revisions ? It could help us, among other things, in reviewing changes tagged by the abuse filter (w:Special:Tags). As of now there's no efficient way to review those. Cenarium 02:49, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Cenarium, I added this and deferred revisions to the idea page so that we wouldn't lose track of it when the time comes. We'll consider those features as part of an overall patrolling tool strategy. -- RobLa-WMF 02:48, 19 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
