[edit] suggested wiki ideas

As suggested, just come from project|current (syntax?) issues on this page, and supporting the idea that there be more usage suggestions. If more experienced editors want to paste links to, say, half a dozen suggested usages, then I would be happy to draft an overview --User:Avaiki 20070410

[edit] add contact info

Add how to get contact mediawiki.org by email, to e.g. mention that mediawiki makes invalid xhtml: http://zh.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:%E6%96%B0%E9%97%BB%E6%8A%95%E7%A8%BF has one href= without quotes. Use href="...". --User:Jidanni 2006-07-27

Hello Jidanni, I've looked at it; you mean for example the following line at the bottom of this page:
<a href=http://zh.wikinews.org/wiki/wikinews:版权信息>版权信息</a>
I'll tell our devs about this case (see bug 6829). In general, please see Communication. Such things could be reported on MediaZilla/Bugzilla, or on IRC #wikimedia-tech, because it's not a MediaWiki specific problem, but a Wikimedia specific one afaik. Greetings --:Bdk: 00:19, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Por favor, traduzcan este artículo al Español, yo no hablo inglés. --Titogonzalez23 16:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unclear/slang use

The first line of the first paragraph following the TOC currently reads: "MediaWiki.org, what is domain and site name at the same time, has only one topic: the homonymous wiki engine MediaWiki." The section between the first and second commas seems unecessary as well as rather cryptic. I'd remove it myself but the page is locked. -Jarsyl 09:58, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. Done. --HappyDog 16:31, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Work in progress sentence

"All the content still is and, of course, will be work in progress." There should probaably be an "a" between "be" and "work". --Brian 08:51, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Not necessarily. "It is work in progress" or "It is a work in progress" - either is fine, and I personally prefer the former. --HappyDog 16:30, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Link correction

In "You can also install wiki software on your server;"(in the "what MediaWiki is not" section) the link should be changed to this wiki at Manual:Installation--Brian 03:10, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blocking Policy

Where is the blocking policy? Every site needs one to let users know why admins can block people.(76.247.222.101 13:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC))

common sense is generally enough for small sites: you will be blocked if you disrupt the sites operation. A written policy is imho only needed if some major disagreement arises, and needs to be sorted out. -- Duesentrieb 10:50, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
