Mailing lists

There are several e-mail lists that exist for discussion of the MediaWiki software. Note that these lists are not appropriate places for discussing issues with Wikipedia or any other Wikimedia Foundation projects. Those lists can be found on the mailing list page at meta.

These lists are all available as ordinary e-mail discussion lists, which you may subscribe to by using the links in the table below.

[edit] Gmane

Most of the above lists may additionally be accessed as newsgroups. In order to use these lists like newsgroups you must specify news.gmane.org as your NNTP-server and subscribe to the relevant group as detailed below.

Depending how your browser is configured, you may be able to automatically subscribe to the newsgroup by clicking the newsgroup name in the table below.

In order to post to the newsgroup you must be a list member. The first time you post to a group you will receive an email for verification of your email address, which is normal. If you work by means of the newsgroup you probably no longer wants to receive the messages by email. To disable email delivery you need to login via the subscriber login page for that list and edit your preferences.

You can also use the Gmane web interface for reading AND posting to the list. To post, select "post" (or "followup" to reply to the current post) from the drop-down menu in the top right.
