Why is this function called "delete" when all it does is hide?

How do we permanently delete revision history without deleting the original document?

MediaWiki doesn't do permanent deletion. When you "delete" a page, you're not really deleting that page either. Oversight can actually hide revisions from appearing in the history at all, but it's difficult to fix mistakes and it can create misleading edit histories. It's recommended to use RevisionDelete instead. Reach Out to the Truth 14:59, 1 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
You in fact can permanently delete information in MediaWiki by running the maintenance script deleteArchivedRevisions.php, which deletes all archived (= deleted) revisions. --88.130.74.254 21:38, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oversight javascript code[edit]

Ask me where is a javascript code for a special use of oversight tool then I can copy the code to my .js page? I highly recommend to use oversight.js/common.js on a wiki project, or global.js in global wiki projects with oversight code and finally hide logs entries and users' contributions.
