Extension talk:SimpleAntiSpam

I was wondering if this Extension still works if i have my $wgSpamRegex configured like this

$wgSpamRegex = "/online-casino|buy-viagra|adult-website\.com|display:none|overflow:\s*auto;\s*height:\s*[0-4]px;/i";

-> this should disallow any edits containing an invisible edit Field, so in fact it could block the Functionality of this SimpleAntiSpam Extension

Am i right or am i wrong ?

Has anybody here using this Feature got any experiences with this extension ?

Sincerly A.

Sorry for the delayed response, but this should hopefully answer anyone else with the same question: the SimpleAntiSpam extension is not affected by $wgSpamRegex, so that configuration is perfectly fine. --Skizzerz 23:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Usefulness?[edit]

I have had this installed for a few months now, and I'm not sure how well this has been working. Does anyone know if this is actually preventing spam? Or if there is a way to tell how many are blocked? 138.67.183.97 23:16, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you have debug logging enabled, it writes an entry to the debug log for each spam hit. --Skizzerz 15:32, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Block IP[edit]

It may be useful if SimpleAntiSpam could automatically block the IP of the bot entering something into the empty field for a given time period (e.g. 24 or 48 hours). --87.163.117.245 05:20, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Agree. This would be most useful, especially if the given time period were site-established.--LeyteWolfer 04:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Legitimate Bots?[edit]

Will this keep me from using my dotnetbots from being able to post or does this ignore botusers? Williamaperry (talk)
