[edit] Install Class?

Sorry if the question is basic, but what is involved in installing Akismet.class.php? Does it simply need to be placed in a specific folder, or is there more involved? Thanks! FrankCarroll 05:45, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

I've updated the instructions for you. 69.165.247.114 08:30, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit] How about a log option?

Recently installed a few anti spam extensions above and beyond the usual. This one I'm a little skeptical about from the looks of it, but support for services like Akismet is something wikis definitely need. I am surprised its not something with a lot of official support around here.

Anyway, I noticed that Extension_talk:User_Merge_and_Delete creates a log for its activity, like any other log in Mediwiki. It seems like a log of defeats, and additionally a spam/non-spam counter would make a lot of sense to add to this extension. I may look into it myself if I can put some time aside. The log would let admins know how things are going, and a set of counters would be somewhat informative even if the administration decided the logs were not worth keeping around. I don't know a ton about the logs, but I assume they can be emptied automatically if desired.

Anyway, some feedback would make a big diff! --67.54.235.190 19:43, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

As far as I know, the MediaWiki logs (upload, un/block, un/delete and the like) are kept forever - the only exceptions are special:recentchanges itself (although that data can be reconstructed from permanent database entries elsewhere) and the CheckUser tables. --Carlb (talk) 00:19, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
