Basic Idea of Wiki2LaTeX

The basic idea of Wiki2LaTeX is quite simple: Trying to write a script which would export an article to a pdf document.

Converting an Article

There are some issues which won't ever be solved for there are several possibilities to do it. Tables for example have only one implementation in Mediawikis syntax, but LaTeX offers several packages which are partly incompatible and require some settings, which Mediawiki and HTML don't ever need.
