The Data Import extension enables users to integrate external data into the Wiki coming from webservices (external RESTful and basic SOAP) as well as CSV files and emails (via the Term Import Framework component or POP3 account import). Imported data are added to the Wiki as new articles. All features come with an easy to use graphical user interfaces.
Features of the Data Import extension[edit | edit source]
The Data Import extension provides the following features:
- Using data and features from web services - features to attach to an external RESTful or basic SOAP web service, to specify the update and cache cleanup policies and to generate semantic annotations from read or imported data
- Importing new Wiki articles - Companies that want to introduce a semantic wiki as new knowledge managements system often have their own vocabulary of specific terms that they want to be reflected in the Wiki. The Term Import component allows importing such existing terms into the wiki.

A pre-configured and free easy-to-install bundle named "SMW+" containing MediaWiki, SMW, Halo and further useful extensions is also distributed. It also allows installing the Data Import extension via the web based
