Bugzilla/Cleanup

From MediaWiki.org

There are quite a few big cleanup jobs that our Bugzilla database could do with, but they're sure to result in a huge volume of bugmail spam, to wikibugs-l, individual users and to the IRC channels. The best way to proceed is to set aside a window when email from the bugzilla installation will be disabled, and we can make large changes without generating a huge volume of mail.

Changes that need to be made:

  • Remove deprecated keywords
    • fixed-in-14-cvs
    • fixed-in-15-cvs
    • fixed-in-cvs
    • bugday - didn't do.
  • Remove keywords from closed bugs
    Is that necessary? ^demon
Of course not; none of this is essential. Doesn't mean it's not beneficial. Happymelon 14:48, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
I suppose some of them (needs-parsertest, needs-review) could be removed post-closure, as they're no longer relevant. Things like patch are still relevant, because there is still a patch attached to the bug (it's just been applied already :p) ^demon 13:40, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
What about a new keyword for those, for example "reviewed-patch" or the likes, that would make it easier looking for patches that need to be checked out/reviewed or something? Peachey88 03:01, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Cleanup some keywords
easy can apparently do with a cleanout, since they aren't all "easy". Peachey88 00:07, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Consolidate MW version numbers - 1.4.x1.4, etc, up to 1.10 (except 1.6.x??)
Will cause the most spam ← This is why we're shutting down BZ for the duration. ^demon
    Done ^demon 16:05, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
  • Cleanout some products and components with many misplaced bugs:
    • wikibugs IRC bot
This was caused by the component was simply called "wikibugs" compared to he current naming of something like "Wikibugs IRC bot", I created a list when i started previously but never finished. Peachey88 05:17, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Deprecate some components and products
    • Issues?
      Needs to die. ^demon
      Dead. ^demon
    • Wiktionary tools?
I keep getting told this is looked at. But nothing ever gets fixed. Someone needs to step up or we should shut it down. ^demon
  • Reorganise some products/components
    • LogwoodWikimedia/Usage Statistics?
